A Message from the PTA President

Hello Sangster families,

It was great seeing you at the “dinner” portion of our Sangster Dinner & Movie Night—thank you for coming out!

The PTA ended up with some leftover sandwiches, and I wanted to pass along to the Sangster family the outcome. A lot of donation centers or shelters only take non-perishable items, but we found one that was so incredibly thankful to accept the sandwiches: the Katherine Hanley Shelter in Fairfax. This shelter’s mission is to provide emergency shelter, stability, and support to families experiencing homelessness. It was an impressive facility and the staff were so pleasant and happy to answer all of our questions. The director there greeted us and let us know that the residents would be thrilled with the sandwiches for lunch the next day as they only really get a lot of canned donations.

So the next time you have a big family gathering, or a work event where there are leftover perishable items, please consider giving them a call to donate.

We have our Sangster Fun Run this Saturday and I hope to see you all again then. We’ll have Krispy Kreme to fuel our runners, walkers, and spectators!

While registration has closed for participants, please join us on Saturday, April 20 starting at 9:00 a.m. to cheer on our runners! The course will be throughout the Sangster campus, ending on the blacktop where we’ll have Krispy Kreme donuts and other concessions for sale.

To access the directory, log in to Givebacks (formerly Member Hub) and click on Directory on the left menu. If you don’t have an account yet, follow the instructions under “First Time Logging In?” to set up your profile. All students are included in the directory unless they have opted out. Box Tops For Education is now in a digital format. Please download the free Box Tops app to scan your receipts to automatically apply any Box Tops earnings to our school fund. Sangster PTA is enrolled in Shop with Scrip! This app allows you to easily purchase e-gift cards and physical gift cards! Visit https://shop.shopwithscrip.com to download, and use the code 88EF2LB783L77 when you enroll. When you make a purchase, for a $0.15 bank transaction fee, a portion of the money goes to our PTA! We will place several bulk orders for physical gift cards during the year, but cards can be purchased at any time.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The following PTA Board and Committee Lead positions are open for the 2024–2025 school year:

Sangster PTA Vice President — This position works alongside the Sangster PTA President in executing the PTA mission in accordance with the bylaws.

Membership/Directory Coordinator — Promotes membership throughout the school year and coordinates the online directory via Givebacks in late Fall.

Reflections Coordinator — Coordinates the Reflections program with the Sangster community in the Fall.

Spirit Wear Coordinator — Coordinates selling spirit wear at PTA events and two online sales throughout the school year.

New Executive Board members will be voted in at the May PTA General Membership meeting. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to Janessa Worrell at sangstervicepresidentpta@gmail.com.
